This is a variation of combining lasercut elements with a 3D printed object. I lasercut the TYPE letterforms from 3mm acrylic and designed the base to be 3D printed. The base has slots for the bottom of the letters to fit into and each slot moves upward and across to enhance the depth of the overall design.
